The Bible is clear on the difference between a prophet of the Lord and a false prophet of which it warns us of in the last days. A prophet can speak presumptuously or say things as a mortal and not through the spirit. This does not define him as a false prophet. It is by their fruits that ye shall know them. A prophet will proclaim that he is a prophet then it is up to you to seek out the fruits and decide if what he teaches brings you closer to your Father in Heaven and and teaches the true doctrines of the Atonement and how to apply them in your life.
