If you have it removed you can put it in a pot of boiliing water and see if it opens.

Bad thermostat maybe?
2 things I can think of which need to be checked: your coolant and your thermostat.
Your car is starting to overheat or your thermostat is going out. Get it checked.

This question is not complete. . Need to know if you've replaced radiator, thermostat, hoses etc. Are you asking this question *after* yo checked the thermostat, changed, added or drained the system?
Assuming you have checked the water and its topped up, could be thermostat blocked.

Just checked on Rad flush and thermostat replacement for my 2004 Montana. Quoted $333.00 & $375.00. Both shops are well known in my area. Thermostat was $16.00, Flush and fill with Dex-Cool was $100.00, The rest was labor.
first of all, do you have the right thermostat? ie: winter, summer. if so i would get the radiator checked, it may be getting pluged.
If you have re-filled the coolant and checked for leaks no wait time is necessary
