When they remove the colon due to cancer etc, they give you a bag on the stomach where they have opened a hole and connected the duodenum to. Since the feces doesn't become hard until it reaches the colon it's not common to attach the duodenum to the rectum since it will all be loose, diarrhea. That is why a bag on the belly is better. However can it leak inside occasionally. If it's a lot you should see the doctor again but sometimes a little can seep out. It's annoying and you might have to wear protection like a small diaper for awhile.

Poop, or feces, is excreted by the anus which is the terminal opening of the large rectum, a part of the large intestine or colon.
Through the Anus The muscles in the walls of the colon contract and move the fecal matter through the digestive tract and into the rectum. The rectum then contracts and sends the fecal matter out through the anus.
The function of the Large Intestine (or Colon) is to absorb any remaining vitamins or minerals in your waste. The anus is just a exit for you waste. The rectum, which is right before the anus, hold the feces before it exits your body.
