The function of the Large Intestine (or Colon) is to absorb any remaining vitamins or minerals in your waste. The anus is just a exit for you waste. The rectum, which is right before the anus, hold the feces before it exits your body.
Descending colon
Feces are made in the colon/large intestine, then pass through the rectum and then the anus.

The rectum. After food is transported out of the stomach it first enters the small intestines and then the large intestines. The large intestines, or colon, consists of the cecum, ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, and sigmoid colon (shaped like a sideways 'S') which ends with the rectum. Unless the rectum becomes overburdened, it will store the waste until it is voluntarily excreted via the anus.
The main function of the anus is to let out the feces that your rectum was holding.
The anus is the opening through which waste is emitted from the colon.

The rectum is the lower end of the colon. Then your feces moves into your anus.
After waste leaves the Colon, it enters the Rectum, and is discharged through the Anus.
In order as follows: Cecum, Ascending colon, Transverse colon, Descending colon, and sigmoid colon, followed by the rectum, anal canal and the anus.
The anus is used to dispose of waste materials after it has passed through the digestive tract.
