Well, the c drive is usually the first hard disk drive (hard drive for short) in your computer, with d, e, and f being additional hard drives, or at least spaces that if used all at once would lead to an f drive. As for the a and b drives, they are reserved for floppy disk drives, or floppies for short. The C drive is what came with your computer. It is the default drive where all of your system info, & programs. The D drive could be a "partition" which is still on the C drive, but set up as a separate drive. The CD-ROM is usually labeled as the D drive. The F drive could be a memory stick(or other storage media) that is in a USB port. Drives D, E, F, G, and so on could also be additional hard drives that have been installed on your computer.
It is a substitute command. Use the SUBST command to substitute a drive letter for a path in order to treat a virtual drive (a reserved area rather than an actual disk drive) as a physical drive. Example: To create a virtual drive F for the path, SALES\LETTERS (under the root directory) of drive C, enter subst f: c:\sales\letters Read and write requests to either drive F or to C:\SALES\LETTERS will be stored in the C:\SALES\LETTERS directory area.
Follow these steps: A. Please use DOS command to delete autorun.inf file. C:\>attrib -S -H -R C:\autorun.inf C:\>del /F C:\autorun.inf Replace C with your drive that you want to disable autorun of. B. To prevent future infection, make a blank autorun.inf for each drive: - Open notepad and Save As “autorun.inf”. - Place the autorun.inf in the affected drive. C. However, since you already double click the C drive, or D drive, there is a high chance your computer has been infected, even though you have just reformatted your C drive when you doubleclick D drive. You have to again dismantle your harddrive from the PC, and let another computer scan all the volumes in the harddrive for safety.
