Our Founding Fathers set it up that way, in fact they don't even have to like each other, can have opposing political opinions, represent different parties and cast votes on every issue in opposition to each other. The US Constitution allows this in an effort to slow down change, require thorough examination of every issue and to get a genuine idea of what the Nation as a whole wants. But to get more then two from a single state, the US Vice President must also be from that State and a tie vote is essential.

The US Constitution grants each State two Senators. They don't even have to agree on their votes.

Search engines such as Google.com can be used to look up all kinds of factual information; try typing in "senators, (state name)" and see what you get.
