Hurricanes can be tracked via satellite. Measurements of surrounding conditions can then be used to predict where the hurricane will go and if it will last. Advisories are then broadcast to people whoe may be in danger.

Tornadoes are much more difficult to predict because they are much smaller and form much more quickly than hurricanes. General weather conditions can be monitored to see if there is a threat of tornadoes across a region. Specific locations can be warned if the potential for a tornado is detected with Doppler radar, or if one is seen by a weather spotter.

A hurricane is a rather obvious weather pattern.

Hurricanes are very large systems that are easily studied by satellites. If a storm system may develop into a hurricane planes called hurricane hunters may be periodically to help moniter whether it has become a tropical depression, tropical storm, or hurricane.

Hurricanes are tracked by various means, the most important of which are satellite observations. Hurricanes are huge and take days to develop, so they are easily detected. By monitoring wind currents around a hurricane scientists can also predict where a it is likely to go.

How do you know a hurricane is coming?

Hurricane warnings usually are issued well before the hurricane hits, so there is time for evacuations and precautions to be taken. You also know when large clouds and strong winds begin that this may be a strong storm or hurricane so if it does look that way you may need to head for safety d.
