The president IS the executive brance. He is the primary componet of it and probably has as much power as he can get from it.
President Madison sent troops to gain control of the West Florida region.
The system of checks and balances is a system that allows each branch of government to watch over each other. This makes sure that one branch of government does not gain more power or use its authority wrongly. For example, the legislative branch makes the laws and the executive branch can veto those laws. This makes it harder for the legislative branch to pass a law. The judicial branch also has the power to declare a law as unconstitutional, and make sure the law never gets passed. The legislative branch also has the power to veto a president of judge that is not doing their job properly. The legislative branch approves the choice of the executive branch for who they appoint as judges.

when there has been a serious domestic or international problem facing the United States. Reason: During the Vietnam War of the 1960s and early 1970s, Presidents committed troops without a declaration of war.
Nikita Khrushev blocked the access of Berlin in an effort to gain control of it.
For the president to gain control over the rivalries and independence over the executive branch, bureaucracy must be achieved. This is done by making government agencies independent from one another.
The Executive Branch contains the president and his cabinetry. It's sole purpose is to carry out the laws created by the legislative system. However, in recent years, the powers of the executive branch have been growing. While it hasn't necessarily over thrown our system of checks and balances, it has lead to an unfair gain in the executive branch.

In the government: the executive branch (president), legislative branch (house and senate), and judicial branch (supreme court), all have powers that balance that powers of the other branches out, so that one of them can't gain too much power.

The simple version: The three branches of the U.S. government are the Legislative branch, the Executive branch, and the Judicial branch. The Legislative branch is described in Article I of the Constitution; it is comprised of the Senate and the House of Representatives; it makes and passes laws and the national budget; it votes on bills; approves the appointed federal judges and can declare war. The Executive branch is described in Article II of the Constitution; it is comprised of the President of the United States and his Cabinet; it enforces laws; makes treaties; and the President signs or vetoes bills. The Judicial branch is described in Article III of the Constitution; it is comprised of all the courts in the land; it interprets laws and punishes lawbreakers; it decides whether laws are constitutional or not.
As the economy and country is growing, more governmental power is needed. Because the executive branch consists of one leader, it is easier for this branch to speak and share its plans rather than the judicial or legislative branches.

The US System of Government-Checks and Balances- is not so complicated as you might think. The President is checked byCongress (legislature) and Supreme Court (judiciary).by Congress-may override presidential vetoes with two-third vote-has the power over the purse strings to actually fund any executive actions-may remove the President through impeachment (but that only happened twice in the US history)-Senate approves treaties-Senate approves presidential appointments (President has the power to appoint the powerful guys, justices of the Supreme Court, members of the cabinet etc)by the Supreme Court-Judges, once appointed for life, are free from controls from the executive branch-Courts can judge executive actions to be unconstitutional through the power ofjudicial review
