vampires are not born they are made. they are humans first but when another vampire bites them, drains them, and then the human feeds from them. they are in pain for a few days then they are a full vamp.

It is a little complex to become a vampire. First you have to be infected by a vampire with that certain something that defines vampirism. This is usually done by being bitten by a vampire. NOTE just being bitten and dying doesn't ensure your becoming a vampire. You have to sustain the 'infection' a while before dying or it just doesn't take. Usually this requires you being repeatably bitten and blood-let until you are weakened to an appropriate amount. While you are in this infective stage you are effectively a Dhampir - a living vampire. It will then require you to die to become a true vampire. NOTE I would think that being a Dhampir would be preferable to being a vampire, all the perks and you get to live as well. But then you can recover from being infected. Certain people are born Dhampirs (having a vampire father) and seem to carry the infection all their lives. But then others seem to get over the condition, a lot of people who have been bitten and infected certainly do. If they don't die recovery seems to be the natural course of the 'disease'. You will recall that Count Dracula made himself two Dhampirs (well, at least one - Whilhelmia Harker was forced to drink his blood). Reinfeld was probably just mad. Mina recovered. It was made to look like she recovered immediately after Count Dracula was killed but really it was probably just the course of the infection. Vampires take humans and bite them. They have to stop before the human is drained so the venom in their saliva can infect them. It takes aweek for it to be comeplete and the victim is in pain the whole time and is wanting to be killed.

There is however a demon called an incubus which can engage in intercourse with human females, as well as impregnating them.

They mate, but there isn't a specific type of season for it. The mating takes place while roosting upside down in a cave. When the time has come (in about 8 months after forming), the female bat clings to the ceiling, head up & tail down. She curls her tail membrane, forming a pouch. The baby goes into the pouch.
