Don't be so hard on yourself! Human beings are simply complicated creatures. We come in all colors, shapes, sizes and personalities. Sometimes the chemistry just isn't there or if it is at first it can fade. Humans are not perfect and we all make mistakes, but for the most part we do the best we can. If you're a good, kind and loving person and tried your best then you should know you did a very good job.
It would be good if you could talk this over with your partner. Talking it over would allow you both to know what you each deem to be important to the other. Together, you both could figure out what you each could do to save your relationship.
