First, the clutch won't engage if the refrigerant level is low. Start there. Next, check the sensor at the receiver/dryer.
Dont jump them, its not a switch, its a transducer and you could wreck your pcm by jumping the wrong one. Run a power wire directly to your compressor to get the clutch to engage. If it doent engage then, it is your clutch. Remember to first check refridgerant level and fuses/relays. Good luck.
Check the following............... 1. The a/c pressure switch. 2. The freon level. 3. Relays and sensors. 4. The a/c clutch coil.
It is with all of the relays in the center of the firewall under the hood.
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE LOW PRESSURE SWITCH IS BAD. CHECK ON THE LOW PRESSURE SIDE. IT IS EITHER ON THE LINE OR MOST USUALLY ON THE ACCUMULATER (DRYER). UN-PLUG THE PLUG FROM THE SWITCH AND CUT A WIRE ABOUT 3 INCHES LONG. STRIP THE WIRE ON BOTH SIDE AND PLUG THE WIRE IN ON EACH SIDE OF THE PLUG WHERE THE SWITCH PLUGGED IN. TURN THE AIR ON AND SEE IF THE CLUTCH KICKS IN. THIS IS DONE TO BY-PASS THE SWITCH, WHICH IS WHAT KICKS THE CLUCH IN. IF THE CLUTCH KICKS IN, THEN BUY YOU ANOTHER LOW PRESSURE SWITCH.
Relays can be purchased in many hardware outlet shops such as WallMart and O'Reilly's. It is also possible to order relays from online shops which is convenient as it allows delivery.
where is the cooling fan relay in a 1996 buick lasebre
== == There is also a low pressure sensor in the system if this has went bad the clutch will not engage. To test unplug the wires from sensor and jum direct if clutch engages either the switch is bad or refrigerant has been lost. There is a 15A in the main fuse box and a relay somewhere behind the centre console. If you have a rear cooler as well then there will be another fuse. If your light is working on the dashboard but the magnetic clutch still doesn't engage then it's not a fuse you need to find but the relays; centre console passenger side, remove three screws in plastic cover and find relays in black rubber covers near heater matrix pipes.
Yes, with both freon and oil for it to operate correctly and engage unless someone has bypassed the pressure switches or relays..........
A/C clutch relay circuit.. an open or shorted condition detected in the A/C clutch relay circuit.. The A/c clutch relays are locatyed in the engine bay drivers side just in front of the strut tower on the inner fender.. thetres a pair of relays.. the ac one is the one to the front of the car..
The firewall is the "wall" between the cab and the engine, it is sometime hard to deal with as it has lots of wires and relays and other stuff located on it.
did u also check the autoshutdown and fuel pump relays?
Look under the hood in the power distribution box and you will see a group of relays and it will be the top one on row one (compressor clutch relay).........
