∙ 15y agoI'm assuming a Wireless Access Point has already been set up with a router. If so then your PC needs a wireless Network card. If you have a wireless Network card and are using Windows XP or Vista, your computer will automatically connect to the wireless network. You can check it out with Start>Control Panel>Network Connections. You should see the connection as there will be three bars on the right hand side...if you have further questions I need to know your operating system and what is set up for wireless networking.

∙ 14y agoPower up your router. Connect it wirelessly or though an ethernet cable. After that log on (how to that is described in the manual). Check setting for a DHCP server, make sure that it was set up properly (see the manual). Check wireless network settings, make sure that you know that key if you are going to use secured connection.
PS: by default you do not need to do anything to start using a router as a wireless access point. It is usually set by manufacture, unless you want to change the default password for admin/root, or/and you want to use secured wireless connection.

∙ 11y agoAnswer: When you set up your login to the access point, there will be an option to always connect to the access point. Select that option. If you have more than one connection saved, there should be a point in your network configuration screen that will allow you to set the priority order for the access points. Post your operating system to find details.

My laptop has Windows Vista, and I have tried making it automatically connect to my access point several times. Every time I boot Windows and log in, it doesn't connect automatically. I have to go into Network Settings and make it connect (but it does remember the password).

∙ 12y agoTo set up a good wireless router access point, you will need internet service. Once you plug your internet cable into the appropriate spot on the router and install the software, you should be able to quickly follow the directions on the screen to setting up your home's wireless network.
