The following applies to lists of any kind in Windows: e-mail messages in Outlook, files in a folder, folders on a drive - any list that can be highlighted.
Highlight the first message you want deleted, hold down one of the Shift keys and click on the last message you want deleted. This highlights all the messages between the first and last message clicked.
For Outlook messages, press the Delete key to transfer them all into the "Deleted Items" folder. If you are sure they are all to be deleted, hold down one of the shift keys while pressing the Delete key. This will generate a modal dialog box asking you if you are sure you want to permanently delete the list. If you answer yes to this dialog box, the highlighted messages will be un-retrievably deleted without passing through the Deleted Items folder.
Also, if you have a list of highlighted items, holding down the Ctrl key while clicking on a highlighted item will toggle its highlighted state, adding or removing the item from the list.
