How can you do with less sleep?

In college people were talking alot about studies that were done that suggested you can get away with sleeping 5 hours at night and 1 hour midday. I however prefer to do with less work ;) Whether in college or not, people need at least 8 hours of sleep per night. Without rest we don't let our brain go into REM sleep (deep sleep) and we dream every half hour, but seldom remember most dreams. It's the bodies way of taking the stress out of the body. Sleep and food is very important because if you don't have either then your brain or other parts of your body won't act the way they should. Put it this way ... you're not getting the bang for your buck!
