You can search for specific KML or KMZ files on the public internet using the Google advanced search.
Go to the Google search web site then click "advanced search" on the bottom of the page. From the advanced search page select "KML" or "KMZ" as the file type then add some specific keywords to find a specific file.
For a short-cut just add the special directive filetype:kml or filetype:kmz to the end of search text on Google search page to restrict the search to only KML or KMZ files.
Example: hiking trail filetype:kml
Will find KML files with hiking trail in the name or description.
