There should be a code stamped into the axle tube of the rear end. You'll have to find this and look for a site that decodes the letters. As far as I am aware, all Monte SS were put out with 3.73 gears.....some posi and some not.

Ever gear ratio was offered as an option back in 69, it's hard to tell whats in yours, I believe the standard gear ratio was a 3.08 gear.
Assuming youre talking gear ratios, in all 6 speed manual transmissions have a 3:42 gear ratio. In automatic transmission cars, you will find a 3:23 rear in all SS camaros. In Z28's with nonperformance tires, you will have a 2:72 ratio and a steel as opposed to aluminum driveshaft.

There are four ways to find a ratio. 1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number. 2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement info. 3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft to get one complete turn of the tires. 4 You can divide the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide by number of teeth on the pinion.
In 69 you could get any gear ratio your heart desired, from 3.08 to a 4.56 if you wanted it so it would be hard to say what any ss out there had in it for sure.
There are many resources for free manuals. They are available in forums and in the library of your local town. They are also available from the car manufacture company themselves.

The 2010 Camaro SS has an 8.6 ring gear with a 2 pinion positraction unit in the middle section.
Most engines after the early 70's take a 50/1 ratio, until they became injected.
