this may help you lessen the problem - Get a small gaped net and scope of as many as you can from top of pond - if large pond, it is harder.

this can be very time consuming - it took me an entire day to cleanse my pond of weird beetle things {werrly beetles, little black beetles on top of pond going mad.} they never came back! - two years ago{i think} still got pond

p.s. my pond is small, with lots of small fish

p.p.s. check net for fish before dumping contents in bucket {release in field/hedge far from your home, upend bucket}
