It's a form of oxidation, somewhat similar to rust on iron-based metals. Copper oxide is greenish in color and is often called "patina".
Another example is the Statue of Liberty. It's copper underneath, but a century and a quarter of oxidation have turned it green.
the"green stuff " on many pennies is rust, and if you wanted to get it off then drop it in some baking soda and some vinegar
rust is normally a layer of new material building up on the outside of the material. Because we live in an environment with a large oxygen content metals are commonly oxidised(or seen to rust). The metal oxide that forms is a completely new material, so the brown suff "rust" that appears on iron is iron oxide, just as the green stuff "rust" that appears on pennys is copper oxide, years of people handling the penny, and in many different environments accelerates the rusting(oxidation process).
If you look around many old buildings used to have copper domes or statues and they are now a bright green colour, this is the same thing that happened to your penny just on a much bigger scale.
im not sure, but try putting it in vinegar
yes cause its copper
I turned white vinegar green by putting a 1969 penny in it for two weeks in the refrigerator. It turned green because of the copper in the penny reacting with the vinegar in a process called oxidization. The green was the copper oxide formed when the copper in the penny oxidized in the vinegar.
I'm guessing you mean the green stuff you see on the pictures of the whole earth and it's just green and blue- seeing as the blue stuff covers 70% of our earth, I'd say green is 30%. :P
You should not have "green stuff" leaking out of you. If your vaginal secretion is green and smells like fish, you need to see a doctor because you may have an infection.
it would turn a dark color green
Yes they do when you feed them fish they poo out fish. If you feed them green stuff they poo out green stuff
The copper of the penny will rub off the file
That green stuff that shows up on copper is called verdigris, and is also known as patina. In addition to making your penny green, it's also what makes the copper Statue of Liberty look green! The process by which verdigris is made is called oxidation. Most of the time, when copper oxidizes, it turns dark brown, like most pennies you see. When saltwater is added (like in somebody's sweaty pocket) the copper turns green instead.
duck and fish&& stuff !!
oxygen.
They are actually looking at a large computer screen off to the side, which turns out to be right in front of them, but off-camera. This screen shows the part added to the green screen.
Because it is noted for the corn grown there.
That "green stuff" is actually fungi or mold that has been growing on a potato because it was exposed in bright light for way to long if you spot huge green spots on your potato its best to throw them away and sanitize your hands because you can get VERY SICK
Okay so from what i have learned fot my project, No orange juice can not rust a penny it canonly turn it green. it will only turnthe penny green because, of the materialin a penny orange juice alsohas an acide in it called CuO Tha actuly diolves the rust OFF of the pennies. So NO orage juice can NOT rust apenny
Ceelo Green
chroroplast, the green stuff that makes the leaves green.
yes cause its copper
