How can you get to the brake light on a 2004 Nissan Xterra to change the bulb?

I just changed a bulb on my 2002 and I imagine yours would be the same. Just lift the tailgate and take the bolts/screws off of the inside part of the tail light. the outside part has two clips, one high and one low. Pull straight out with one hand on the inside part and one hand on the outside part. The tail light should pull straight out. Be careful to not pry along the outside edge or you may damage your paint or crack the tail light. Once you have the unit pulled out it is a simple counterclockwise turn of the bulb in question. When changing the bulb, just pull the bad bulb straight out and of course put in a new one. Good luck.

On my 2002 Nissan Xterra I had to remove 4 screws from the front bumper and wheel well and then I was able to get to the back side of the side marker light and remove the nut in order to get to the light bulb. i don't need to change just the bulb. The entire light assembly must be replaced. The reflector is broken. i cannot get wires to release.
