Simply double-click the Volume icon in the bottom right corner. If the icon is not there, then:
XP: Go to Start>Control Panel>Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices>Sounds and Audio Devices. Under the Volumetab, check Place volume icon in the taskbar.
Vista: Right-click the taskbar and click Properties. Under the Notification Area tab, check Volume under system icons. If it cant be checked, restart your computer and try again.
7: Right-click the taskbar and click Properties. Under the Taskbar tab, click Customize. Set Volume to Show icon and notification. If you can't, restart your computer and try again.
Once you have done the above, you should be able to open the Volume Control Panel. If not, then your hardware might need to be reinstalled.
