put the book higher up on the shelf
Put the book as far up on the shelf as possible
Place it on a higher shelf. If it has to stay on the same shelf, then its potential energy can only be increased by adding some pages to it.
A bookshelf has gravitational potential energy.
Potential gravitational energy is pretty theoretic, but exists as potential. So a ball sitting on the floor has little to no potential energy as it is as low as possible, but put that ball on a table, its potential energy increases. So the answer is to place things higher, on a surface of a sort. Mass and height
potential
If you increase the mass of an object, the potential energy will increase.
It is the same - work done is weight x height and potential energy change is the same at the new height
There is no direct relationship because the potential energy of the book on the shelf is defined relative to an arbitrary base line at which the potential energy would be zero. The work done in raising the book is the increase in the potential energy of book from however much PE it had in its previous location - for example, on a lower shelf.
Potential Energy depends on mass and height to increase(: Hope that helps.MassHeight
As we increase the altitude of the ball the potential energy increases.
Potential Energy If it falls, it will then be subject of gravity, so it has the potential of becoming energetic. -------------------- The bookshelf could also catch fire and the book would release energy as heat.
It has potential energy.
Increase in potential energy = weight x increase in height
