The shedding has to do with the yarn that the blanket is made from. Wash it and dry it a few times. If the fibers are long enough, they will knot each other. If not, use it very infrequently and keep it away from your nose. Embedded fibers in your lungs can cause serious problems.
If you wash it 3 times and tumble dry it 3 times and it still sheds, throw it out. These fibers are probably going to land in your lungs, and cause a real problem. For keeping the best quality of fleece blanket, please not use your fleece blanket of age over 5 years.
