A parvo shot, like human vaccinations, primes the cat's immune system to fight parvo by introducing weakened viruses for it to practice on. Once the cat has become infected, it is useless to try and vaccinate it.
There are no known medicines that will directly attack viruses, except interferon, which is dreadfully expensive.
