Legally a child must be in care until the age of 16. If you do not want to live with your parents go to a police station- they will know who to contact who can either arrange a care facility or foster care The age of majority in most of the states is 18. In Alabama, Nebraska it is 19. In Mississippi and Pennsylvania it is 21. Some states have laws allowing a minor to petition the court for early emancipation. The majority of states do not have emancipation status but may grant early emancipation decrees on an individual basis pursuant to the law of the state.

Nothing, a minor cannot force his or her parents to release them from custody. A few US states have procedures for the emancipation of minors. Inn all of those states the parents of the minor have the right to contest the action if they choose and in some of those states the parents must agree to the action before a petition will be accepted by the court. You can contact the clerk of the circuit court in the county in which you for information on the emancipation of minors.
