You cannot lose fat locally, only from your entire body simultaneously. The only way to lose fat *anywhere* is to have an energy deficit in your body - burn more energy than you eat and drink. Women tend to have fat loss occur from the breasts and arms first, and from the lower body last. If you stick with a consistently healthy lifestyle, you'll eventually start burning your most tenacious fat reserves. I'll say it again - all you can do is demand energy from your stores, and see where it burns from. Everyone's a little different, but there is absolutely no way to burn a single area's fat off.

Unfortunately, you can never pick and choose certain exercises or diets to lose the fat. I too have a big butt and I am African, so its just the way I'm built, even if I was stick thin and still have my heavy butt and thighs. Try to reduce fat intake to 30 grams a day and within that a max of 10 grams of saturated fat, oh and use your butt to your advantage.
For men, the hardest place to lose fat is the sides and lower abs. For women, it is the butt and thighs.
You cannot target a specific area of the body to store fat, or lose it for that matter. Your genetics decides where fat is stored, but the most common places are around the abdominals, butt, and thighs.

Saturated fat is the term used for the type of fat that becomes solid when cooled. This is the type of fat that can clog your arteries and be deposited in your butt and thighs seems to be a good way but not very healthy.
I have the same exact problem. My thighs are too fat and I need to lose weight from them! I tried doing squats and lunges, and they seem to have improved.
No, if you work the muscles in your thighs it wont make your but smaller, but if you are burning calories and losing fat of course it will get a little smaller.
If you run for about 15-30 min. a day, 3 days a week, it really works your thighs and you can't lose the ongoing battle of losing thigh weight.
