To use less gasoline, which comes from oil you can: a) Use mass transit, b) buy a fuel efficient car c) carpool to work and d) if you live close enough to work, walk or ride a bicycle.

You can use less electricity, which in many cases is generated using steam generators fueled by oil, by a) using less air conditioning or heat b) using the dryer less (hang clothes outside to dry) and c) add insulation or thermal pane windows to your house. Replacing your light bulbs with the new, electricity efficient ones also helps.

Turning televisions and computers off (I'm guilty) are other ways of conserving electricity.

Some houses use solar panels to reduce their energy use.
