If you want to set it so a password is required when you open the lid and wake it up then you need to tick the box under the General tab in the Security section of System Preferences that says Require password after sleep.

Take out one of the key barrels - from either doors or trunk lid and you should find it on the lock cylinder itself.
you should only close the lid if you shut it down you are just going to make it harder for you
Replace the lock.
* Remove the trunk lid latch * Detach the lock release box from the latch assembly * To detach the lock cylinder from the trunk lid pry off the retainer
You have to open the trunk lid, under the lock on the inside you will find a screw, remove the screw and the lock retaining clip, pull the lock out. If you can not open the trunk lid, drill the lock center out, and you should be able to open with a screw driver.
I have one key for my 2002 gti, I can not lock the lid. The key wiil not enter the lock. The doors will lock and the rear lid will alarm when opened. Something is in order.
