How can you protect a family members name who has died from others profiting from fund raising using that persons name?

I'm not really sure if the person's name has a copyright... You may be able to sue, but the best thing I can think of is to get the police to catch the people at one of their fundraising events and show them their ID. They will have to face jail time for identity fraud if they aren't who they claim to be and have not received permission to use the alias.

You may also be able to write a news article and publish it so that people know they are lying about their identity. The media attention will impact them greatly and in a negative way.
