It worked on my 2000 323i. BMW 2000 to current Ignition Off (Position 0) Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1 (ACCESSORY) Keep the button depressed (about 5 secs.) until you see "Oil Service" or "Inspection" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display* Press the button again and hold for approx. 5 secs. until "Reset" or "Re" flashes While the display is flashing, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END�
Yeah, that doesn't work on the 1999. The E46 3-series built before 6/2000 has a different way of resetting the service indicator. Location the 20-pin round DLC connector. Pop the hood and it's located to the left side of the car toward the firewall. Remove the cover to get at the pins. Locate pins 7 and 19. Turn the ignition to ON, but, don't start the car. For Inspection Reset short pins 7 and 19 together for 3 seconds. For Service Reset short pins 7 and 19 together for 9 seconds. The easy way is to buy a Peake Research oil/service reset tool.
