Yes, with an OBD II reader. Disconnecting the battery won't reset it.
Try disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes - sometimes it works
No
yes as long as the key is off
its a good idea to disconect the negative battery turminal ANYTIME you work with something electrical. :D
It's possible. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, then disconnect the ECU.
You should never do electrical work on a vehicle without disconnecting the battery. Saying that, if you are making these connections correctly you will not blow a fuse. You are doing something wrong.
The airbag light in the 2003 GMC ENVOY can be reset by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes. Then reconnect the battery, turn the key to on without starting the vehicle, and pump the gas pedal three times if the light is still on after reconnecting the battery.
If you are careful and do not let the positive cable to the alternator come in contact with the motor or frame, nothing will happen. It is just a lot easier and safer to disconnect the positive cable from the battery. It saves possibly shorting out the cable and possible ruining the battery.
I've heard that disconnecting the battery for an hour or so works. Or turning the ignition on and off (without starting the car) repeatedly.
It is basically a heavy duty switch that you install between the battery and the cable on the positive side. It has a key that is used to turn it off and on and can be removed so that the car can not be started without it. Used for security and to prevent any drain on the battery. Using one is easier than disconnecting the cables at the battery, just turn the key and go.
