Some backround information: I am a sixth grader. My mom knows I feel like this, and I am taking a half dose of SRRI antidepressants. I also have high functioning autism. When at home I feel fine, but at school I get easily depressed by simple things such as, "Do your work," and I start thinking people don't care about me. Just about an hour ago, I was so upset that I hit my head on the brick wall and nearly cut my fingers with scissors. Sometimes I also feel like a majority compared to the other kids, and they should treat me with much more respect than the average person. I know it's an awful thing to think, but I can't help it. There are also times my teacher and principal say "Go do your work" and it makes me think they don't care. Infact, I STILL feel like they dont. PLEASE HELP!
Thoughts of suicide cross the minds of most people at one time or another and while they are very unpleasant thoughts, those thoughts alert us to the fact that something is not right in our world and perhaps changes need to take place. If the thoughts increase, or are constant, or there is a plan to act them out, then it is imperative that the person seeks out help before they do something that can never be undone.
Some results of cyber bullying are thoughts of suicide, not going to school/work, or suicide. a few years ago there was a girl that committed suicide and her mother was so depressed, mad and lonely. the girl was only like 15 or 16 years of age, when she did not show up to school for a while everyone got worried and they found her dead. also there was a note in her room and they found the man for the reason she killed herself. the mother took the man to court and he got in jail. and probably is still in jail now ...

Bullying of any kind can be a cause of suicide. I was bullied all 12 years of public school (and cyber anything didn't even exist back then) and the suicidal thoughts began in late Jr. High or early High School. Even though I graduated in 1975 and the bullying gradually quit in college, I still fight the thoughts almost every day since. While I generally have better coping mechanisms now, sometimes the only tool I can find to fight against the suicidal thoughts is to very briefly get angry at the bullies again for having hurt me that way. I can see how easy it would be for someone to act on them.

However, depression is a complex mental health condition that can present differently in each person. While suicidal thoughts can be a symptom of depression, many individuals experience depression without having thoughts of suicide. It's important for individuals to seek help and support if they are feeling depressed, regardless of whether or not they are having suicidal thoughts.
