You'll see either fluid or grease leaking out of it.
You can tell your rear engine is leaking by looking under your rear engine and see if there's drops hitting the ground.
First you have to identify the fluid that is leaking then locate the source of the leak before we can tell you how to repair it.
It is rear wheel drive. You can tell from the drive shaft extending to the rear axle from the transmission.
I own a 98 mustang, and I can tell you it's rear.
From center of front wheel to center of rear wheel that will tell you the wheel base.
rear main seal must be replaced. also, is it leaking because the crankcase is holding pressure? your PCV is supposed to prevent that, to keep the seals from bolwing oil. if it got clogged, the rear main was the first to give, but wont be the last. once a seal blows ANY oil it is all done. Is PCV clogged? Are other seals leaking. Replacing seal not complex, but plenty time-consuming. The transmission is backed out or removed completely. The torque converter or clutch is disconnected from the flywheel or driveplate, and the flywheel is removed. the rear main seal is removed and new one drifted in. 3 hours in a shop. good time to replace clutch or torque converter if problems there, too. Oil stop leak is not a versatile chemical. It can do as many bad things in there as it can do good things. Most people will tell you they have never used it and gotten the result they hoped for.
Measure from the center hub of the front wheel to the center hub of the rear wheel.
Jack up the rear end safely with both rear wheels off the ground and try to turn one wheel forward while in park. If the other wheel turns rearward you have a "one wheel peel" rear end. If you can't turn either wheel it's a limited slip.
Have the same problem. Please tell me what to do.Or where you can let overhauling the gearbox. My one has no probs, but is leaking, perhaps you ´re able to seal it. Thanx for further information. You can get in and punch the gas pedal, whatever end is making the spin-out would tell you. But in case you can't do that... It's rear wheel drive.
Two wheel abs will only have wheel speed sensors in the rear. Four wheel abs will have wheel speed sensors at all four wheels.
Could be steering rack Could be transmission seal Could be power steering pump Turns out it was the water pump leaking the newer pink antifreeze that had separated from the water, but gotta tell ya I had not thought of the tranny seal. Thanks a bunch.
