Easiest way is to check the voltage your getting out of it when you have electrical loads on (headlights, radio, blower) If the alternator is faulty the voltage would be low <13v. most alternators put out (13.8-14.2V).
It would also be a good Ideal to check the battery as a bad battery can cause an alternator to fail and vise versa.
