They are the same. "Brody Helmet" is the name it is known by in the UK. In the US it is the M1917.
M1917 Brodie helmet
The M1917 refers to many pieces of equipment. A bayonet, a helmet, a light machine gun, a 45 cal. revolver, an Enfield rifle,and a Browning water cooled machine gun. Both machine guns were 30 cal. as well as the Enfield rifle.
The M1917 rifle was based on the "Enfield" Pattern 14 rifle, itself a very unabashed copy of the Mauser rifle.

The "Brodie" (or Tommy) helmet was good, it kept out the rain and falling debris with it's wide brim. But was just alittle bit too shakey...balance wise, when sitting atop a man's head. The WWII German, American, and Japanese steel helmets conformed to the human head a lot better (they stayed on better when running, jumping, and falling).

M1917
John Moses Browning, of Ogden, Utah designed the M1919 machine gun. The novel design actually occurred with the M1917. The M1919 was adapted from the M1917 by replacing the water jacket (for the barrel) with an air-cooled jacket.
