M1917
John Moses Browning, of Ogden, Utah designed the M1919 machine gun. The novel design actually occurred with the M1917. The M1919 was adapted from the M1917 by replacing the water jacket (for the barrel) with an air-cooled jacket.
The first US built tank was a copy of the French Renault FT-17 or Model 1917. Less than 1,000 were ordered and built in the US in 1918. The M1917 that was constructed in the US under license, was called the "Six Ton Tank" M1917.
The M1917 Enfield rifle, although the Springfield 'O3 was fairly common as well.
YOu will need to provide the serial number.

There were several firearms which had the M1917 nomenclature applied to them, none of which were semi automatic rifles. The M1917 Browning machine gun was a belt fed, liquid cooled machine gun. The M1917 rifle was a bolt action rifle, based on a British design, which, in turn, was essentially a knockoff of the Mauser. M1917 was the nomenclature given to a variant of the Chauchat produced in .30-06 for US forces. M1917 was also a nomenclature given to a .45 ACP revolver manufactured by Smith & Wesson. I would be prone to believe you were referring to the machine gun, except no semi-automatic models were ever made that I'm aware of. Could you send some photos of this rifle (email address is listed on my bio page), so that we could determine for certain what it is and ascertain its value from there?
The M1917 refers to many pieces of equipment. A bayonet, a helmet, a light machine gun, a 45 cal. revolver, an Enfield rifle, and a Browning water cooled machine gun. Both machine guns were 30 cal. as well as the Enfield rifle.

They are the same. "Brody Helmet" is the name it is known by in the UK. In the US it is the M1917.
The M1917 rifle was based on the "Enfield" Pattern 14 rifle, itself a very unabashed copy of the Mauser rifle.
Mauser Waffenfabrik never manufactured a .30-06 rifle. You MIGHT have an M1917 rifle, which can be worth over $1200 in good condition and all matching serial numbers.
