The ONLY transmission that will work in that year is the 4L60E. Due to the computor system and transmission wiring harness.
All the 1/2 ton trucks used the 4L60E transmission and the 3/4 tons used the 4L80E transmissions in them.
It will be a 4L60E if it's an automatic.
Assuming this is an automatic transmission, pull the dipstick out and read it, it will tell you the proper ATF to use.
im guessing u mean Chevy and gmc C=2wd K=4wd like a c1500 is a half ton 2 wheel drive truck k1500 is a 4 wheel drive half ton truck
Have a fuel pressure test run.
K indicates 4WD, C indicates 2WD.
There are so many variables at work here that i don't think anyone could tell you.
Automatic? Read the information on the transmission dip stick, it will tell you what type of fluid to use. Standard? Use Mercon.
call the dealer and give your vin number ,it is located on the drivers side front windshield.they can tell you anything you want to know about your truck that was done at the factory.
Tell me the year, and I'll tell you what you got.
Go to Crutchfield.com and click on outfit my ride. Input your information and it will tell you what fits.
Take down the VIN number from the truck..call your local Chevy dealer call the service departement..ask them to give you the specs for your truck. this will tell you the rear-end ration what type of trans and so forth,..there is also a tag on the transmission near the tail saft or the side.
You can tell if the transmission, in your 1998 Chevy Malibu, is going bad. If there is a whining or clunking noise. The transmission might cause your engine to install when you are stopped with your foot on the brake.
