Pop your hood, it should be Indicated on top of the engine.
Go to the nearest autopart store and have them put the computer on it. It will tell you exactly what's wrong. Auto Zone does it for free.
I'm assuming the engine is still in the car. The easiest way is to get the casting code of the block. It is located back by the distributor. There are several online sites that have these casting codes listed and will tell you what size and years the engine is.
It depends on what part you need to swap out. If its something to do with the engine/tranny you should be able to. As far as the rest of the car, A local salvage yard or dealer may be able to tell you if it will interchange.
I would look in your owners manual, that should tell you.
Read the tag on the transmission.

usually that problem is caused by a leaking head gasket. The only way to find out is to have a mechanic do a leak down test on all cylinders. This will tell you which cylinder is leaking.
if you dont know if your grand prix gt is supercharged you should sell it. but if you knew anything about anything then stand outside of your car by either front wheel look on the bottom front of the door and if it says GTP then its supercharged otherwise gt is naturally aspirated.
