Remember that guinea pigs are small, delicate animals that can be easily threatened or frightened. Guinea pigs often bite in these circumstances, and often all that is needed to resolve the behavior is more handling until the guinea pig is comfortable being touched and picked up. Make sure you are picking up the guinea pig in the correct way and that the guinea pig has no sore spots--pain can also cause a guinea pig to bite. Also remember that if you stick your fingers out, the guinea pig may be confusing them with carrots. If the guinea pig continues to bite, firmly say "no" (don't shout or scream) and put the guinea pig back in its cage. This should teach it that biting means no more interaction (and guinea pigs usually enjoy attention, even if they bite sometimes). Never hit, pinch, or shout at a guinea pig--not only is this ineffective, but it is also cruel and can make the guinea pig more prone to defensive biting.

Make it so that they trust you.

I just got a new guinea pig because my old one passed away, but i commonly feed her and i played with her at least an hour a day for like a week or something.

Don't be aggressive with him/her either, because then they will be scared and defensive.

i hope that this will help you!

First, tap on the cage a few times, and let it see you. Then stick your fingers in the cage and let it come to you. Dont go to it. It will smell you, and know your scent and how you look. Then give it a little treat which you should hand feed to it. It will appreciate you. After, stick your fingers in a little more, but slowly. Talk to him or her while doing it. You should not be around any loud noises or kids under 11. If it runs into a hiding spot, keep talking to it, but take your hands out. Then try feeding it another small treat. Dont over feed it. Dont touch it from behind, and dont do ANY FAST MOVING GESTURES. This will just work for the perement owner. Do it with friends and family too. do it within a week or it will be permandently scared

Put a drop of water on each finger, and hold it out to your gerbil. If s/he shies away, its a good sign, and do this once a day for about a week.

I dont think you can.

It means that they are hungry or that they just want to nibble on something.
