The first step is to admit you have a problem out loud to someone. The next step is to get professional help. An Eating Disorder is a problem you are 100% unable to correct by yourself or with only family help.

You need to be seen by a ED doctor, ED therapist AND a dietician weekly to remain stable.

Its a lifelong problem.

Usually eating disorders are quite easy to help treat, in a sense. Firstly, going to the doctors to discover if you have actually got an eating disorder is the main step. If you haven't then the doctor can still point you in the right direction.

Even though you might not be "clinically classed" with an eating disorder, you could still be on the verge of one, this could mean that councilling and support could be steps in the right direction.

Councilling would mean going to meet up with someone every so often, to talk about your feelings and how it is effecting your everyday life.

There are no particular drugs made to cure eating disorder. But there are certain medications which can help in reducing the symptoms. Antidepressants include tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These help in treating binge eating problems to some extent by affecting the brain chemicals which are involved with disposition. Then, there are the anticonvulsant topiramate (Topamax) can limit binge eating but are known to have major side effects such as burning sensation, incoherent thoughts and numbness. Also, there is Sibutramine (Meridia) which is an anti-obesity drug suitable for short term treatment. It is best if you have obese and also suffer from binge eating.
