I've got a feeling it shuts off automatically when there's a certain weight in the passengers seat and the seatbelt is done up. When this happens the airbag warning light on the dashboard (not the instruments) stays on. I think the manual explains more.
Try some switch-cleaner on the yellow connecting plug under the passenger seat!
under the passenger seat is the airbag controls.
The passenger seat has a weight sensor which automatically turns the airbag 'on' at a certain weight. If there isn't enough weight in the seat, the system determines that there is no passenger in the seat and leaves the airbag OFF. The weight sensor can also cause the passenger airbag to deploy with less force if it determines the passenger is small and might be injured by a full-force deployment.
It is under the passenger seat, you will have to remove the passenger seat then the rug will have to be pulled back to access the module.
No. The Magnum has a sensor in the passenger seat that detects if there is sufficient weight to turn the airbag on. With the vehicle running, sit in the driver's seat reach over and push down on the passenger seat. You will notice the "Passenger Airbag OFF" light right above the stereo going off and on.
No, it's not in the seat, it's in the dashboard in front of the passenger.
Not. If the airbag goes off it will occupy the space where the baby used to be. Drive a different vehicle.
My "Passenger Airbag Off" light is illuminated even when I have a passenger is in the right seat. Isn't there a sensor in the right seat that is supposed to turn the airbag on when I have a passenger?
its under the passenger seat.
The seat should have a sensor inside that when enough weight is in the seat it will automatically turn on the airbag system for the passenger.
In most newer cars, no. Older cars may not even have an airbag for the passenger. In most cars that do however, there is a weight sensor in the passenger seat that turns the airbag on only if there is someone heavy enough in the seat. This prevents the airbag from deploying if no one is in the seat and also prevents it from going off if there is a small child in the passenger seat.
No. There is no switch or key lock feature to manually turn off the passenger side airbag. If there is no one in the seat it will automatically turn off.The seat has a sensor that senses when someone is sitting in the seat.
