well you can't change anything about the p.o.s.t (power on self test) screen that comes on first it is in your motherboard's ROM chip in bios. but if you mean when the windows xp logo pops up with the bullet bar below it you used to be able alter it in earlier windows it was the logo.sys file that people used to alter because it is a bitmap file that you can manipulate in photoshop. and its companion logos.sys was the shutdown bitmap. but xp doesn't do that anymore so unless you are a hacker i don't know anyway to alter your boot screens
