unless your very good at taking apart things and putting them back together take it to a transmission shop...the tranny filter on 87-90 legend is on the in side of the transmission..you will need to take the entire trans apart to get to it..both primary and secondary shafts,all hard gears,all clutch packs and the four valve bodies. after all that then you will be able to see the filter but look hard it's only 3 inches by 5 inches..the last time i rebuilt my trans..i quit counting parts at 200 parts there was still more..if your up for the challenge...then have at it
You dont.its internal so you would have to remove the trans to do this.so try drain,flush,and refill.good luck

The only way to change the filter is to remove the trans, take the trans apart, assembling with new gasket, the best fix for this is to install an inline filter.
