Recent Y-DNA studies indicate the Irish and the Basques in particular show similar DNA in the male lines. This also applies to Cornwall, Wales, Scotland and the western areas of England.
Many people say different things, some say from Iberia (northern Spain) as Gaels believed they were descendants of Milesians, sons of Míl Espáine. Others believe that the Irish descend from a sunken island off the west coast of Ireland, called Tír na nÓg or goes by many names like Hy Brasil. I tend to believe the second one. Recent DNA studies tend to support the first one, however.
The most research indicates the bulk of Irish people are descended fromsettlers from an Ice Age refuge in the Pyrenees. Check out "Western Atlantic Modal Haplotype" for more info. The terms Celtic, Viking, Norman, English, Scottish are cultural terms and not necessarily biological. Despite what the following answerstates researchers McEvoy et al. found "scant evidence of Scandinavian Y-chromosome introgression in a general Irish population sample". The findings were consistent with a relatively small number of Norse settlers and descendants migrating into Ireland in the period of 800-1200 AD suggesting that Norse colonial settlements might have been largely composed of indigenous Irish.Another Answer:We're Celtic and Viking ( i.e. from Scandinavia), Norman (from France) and following the plantations in the Northern Ireland and the Pale i.e. around Dublin part Anglo.
Given X:Y, where X and Y are the integers of your ratio, divide both sides by Y. Then you'll have: (X / Y) : (Y / Y) Recognizing that an integer divided by itself is equal to one, (Y / Y) = 1 Finally, you are left with your solution of (X / Y) : 1 Given X:Y, where X and Y are the integers of your ratio, divide both sides by Y. y miles per hour = y/60 miles per minute (60 minutes per hour) y/60 miles per minute = (y/60)/60 miles per second Take y, the number of miles traveled per hour, and divide by 3600 to get the amount of miles per second. Example: 100 miles per hour --> miles per second 100/3600 = 1/36 1/36 miles per second
