it sounds like your tcc (tourqe converter clutch) switch is faulty. this is a common gm problem.
you need to change the fluid. my 99 grand am does that, it feels like you're shifting a manual from 1st to 2nd.
I'd check the transmission fluid level first and then for a slipping band inside the transmission.
because of transmission failure
Very hard shifting between gears accompanied with a bang. That has been my experience in my Pontiac Montana.
broken transmission mount there is a front left, rear left and a center mount
The adjustments are pretty obvious on the the top of the transmission under the air intake and exhaust plumbing.

could be a bad modulator valve but i would change filter and fluid in transmission first
take off the pan.. pretty sure its in the main body.. hope this helps
it seams when it got hot it shifted but it stop shifting
it means that transmission is about to quit working that's what I was told by a transmission shop that if the engine temperature doesn't get up to normal then a torq converter sensor will cause the converter to kick in and out, making it seem like the tranny is slipping. But, can anyone elaborate on this? thanks. lghall
I have a 2000 pontiac montana. the tcs is know as traction control system. if your car is slipping a lot through water or snow, press that button and it will reduce slipping and wheel spin.
