Because unlike Earth, the moon lacks an atmosphere. It also lacks an electromagnetic shield. Because of this any atmosphere on the moon would over time be blown away by solar winds. This doesn't happen to earth because our electromagnetic field generally protects us from solar winds.

How come you would move differently on the earth than on the moon?

The mass of the moon is less than then the mass of the earth therefore the gravitational forces are less on the moon. It therefore allows people to take bigger strides or hops on the moon.

Why is there less or no gravity on the moon then there is on earth?

There is gravity on the moon. It is about on sixth what it is on Earth. This is because the moon has less mass than Earth does.

Why is the gravity on the moon less than on the earth?

because the moon has less mass then earth

Why is there no oxygen on the moon?

Because it's atmosphere is significantly weaker and much less dense than earth's. And also because there is no plant life to create oxygen.

Why do men weigh less on the moon?

because the moon has less mass than earth so humans weigh less on the moon than earth

Why is a persons weight different on earth than on the moon?

The gravity is less on the Moon, because the Moon is smaller than earth; it has less mass, and therefore "sucks" less than the earth. Weight is gravity times mass, you have the same mass on Earth and on the Moon (and in space), but weigh less on the moon.

What are some differences between the earth and moon?

The moon is smaller, uninhabited, and barren. The Moon does not have oxygen but the Earth does. No gravity on moon but the Earth does. No water, land, life, on the moon.

Why do thing weigh less on the moon?

The moon has weaker gravity than Earth does.

Does the earth and moon have atmosphere?

Obviously the Earth has an atmosphere, and the moon also has one, although it is weaker and does not contain oxygen.

What moon has oxygen?

No moon known in the universe, but Earth's moon has frozen water. correction Jupiter's moon (europa) a candidate for terraforming has Oxygen, Saturn's Moon has Oxygen. but is it breathable? we dont know.

Why doesnt the moon have enough gravity on it to pull us down?

It does. Astronauts on the moon can jump higher than they do on Earth but they still come back down. The moon's gravity is weaker than Earth's because the moon has less mass.

How much less is the Moon's gravity than that of the earth's?

Since the Moon's gravity is 1/6 that of Earth, the Moon's gravity is 5/6 less than that of Earth.
