Most of the time, deleted files are sent to a temporary storage folder commonly known as the "recycle bin". In the recycle bin, you can view "deleted" files and decide whether to permanently remove them or restore them back to their original location. Once a file has been deleted from the recycle bin, it cannot be recovered in any way.

One can recover previously deleted computer data by recovering them from the recycle bin. If they have been deleted from there one can download software such as 'Restoration' that allows one to search for and recover deleted files. Alternatively one can use the recovery function on a Windows PC to restore it to a previous date before that data was deleted.

When data is moved into the Trash, it is not actually "deleted". It is marked to be written over on your hard-drive. That is why some data recovery is not successful.
