Not one person can stop terrorism standing alone, only together can we end terrorism. when people learn that attacking others is not the way to go about proving a point, or to be just viscous, then we will have ended terrorism. Although you may think of a terrorist as someone meaning to do you harm you must take into consideration their point of view aswell, also not all terrorists are from the Middle East most Americans assume this because of 9/11 but actually the term terrorist means a characteristic of someone who employs terrorism (especially as a political weapon) which basically means anyone who thrives to harm others for a personal gain. Although the 9/11 attacks were a warning to our government from a direct terrorist group deemed (Al Quaeda) not all terrorists are middle eastern. Terrorism is a terrible thing yes but you will never be able to rid the world of terrorism completely, simply because murder can be viewed as an act of terrorism.
This is a tough question, the globe is facing today. In fact, this is tougher than answering 'How can terrorism be tackled?'.
To answer this, first we have to analyze the root causes of terrorism.
The main root causes for terrorism are believed to be poverty and illiteracy. However, involvement of high-profile professionals in terrorist activities these days suggest there be many sensitive reasons such as social inequlities and feeling of being exploited etc.,
However, there is least doubt, increase in literacy and employment opportunities will surely bring down the spread of terrorism.
But, growth of terrorist organisations in very large span is fuelled by the campaigns against exploitation of one nation by another or one sector by the other. Otherwise called "Modern Imperialism" is dubbed as the leading cause for increase in extremism.
Developing a feeling of fratenity, equal respect to everyone(in the sense, not only individuals, but also nations), Eradiction of poverty and unemployment and beyond all, evolution of a concept of "WORLD-CITIZEN" are some of the most important ways for curbing terrorism. Yet these are all theoritical and even if implemented, will take centuries to 'END' terrorism.

It can't be. I know that's a depressing statement, but it's also true. There have been terrorists as long as there have been people.
The previous answer lists "poverty and illiteracy" as the main root causes for terrorism, which doesn't explain Osama bin Laden--who comes from one of the richest families in Saudi Arabia, and who is an educated man. He turned into an anti-Western terrorist for religious reasons: the US left non-Muslim soldiers in Saudi Arabia after Desert Storm, which offended him.
All you can really do is round up the terrorists you can and watch for the warning signs of an impending attack so you can stop it before it happens, but you can't end terrorism once and for all.
Terrorism can be prevented by reporting suspicious activity to the proper local or state law enforcement authorities. Another way of prevention is to not attack other countries and taking resources.
