Adolf Hitler had unsuccessfully attempted a coup in 1923 and was briefly imprisoned for it. His Nazi Party (the NSDAP) gained a rapidly growing number of seats in the Reichstag from 1930 on.

Hindenburg was persuaded to appoint Hitler as chancellor of Germany on January 30, 1933. Under the subsequent Enabling Act of March 23, 1933, the Nazi Party gained complete control of Germany's legislative and executive authority, and all other political parties were banned on July 14, 1933.

With the death of President Hindenburg on August 2, 1934, the offices of president and chancellor were combined, leaving Hitler as Führer und Reichskanzler, the head of state and the supreme commander of the German military.

Hitler come to power in many ways. He promised to undo the Versailles Treaty which Germany had to reparation to England and France. He also promised to to restore hope and the depression. Hitler also blamed the Jews for inflicting tragedy on Germany.

The Nazis won the German elections of 1933 so, as leader of the party, he was appointed chancellor by President Hindenburg.

Hitler was not elected , indeed he had the largest party in the Reichstag but as unable to form the majority needed to become chancellor. His ascension to Premiership was due to a bitter feud between the chancellor Von Papen and the army general Von Schliecher. Von Schliecher declared that Von Papen had no army support and so was sacked, and Von Schliecher was appointed but had no popular support either. Meanwhile Von Papen with the support of Hindenburg's son convinced the president to make Hitler chancellor and Von Papen vice chancellor, as Hitler had popular support and an army in the form of his SS . Hitler came to power as chancellor and managed to pass the "Enabling Act" through bribing other parties or terrorizing them. On the death of Hindenburg in 1934, a similar act made Hitler the legal dictator of Germany for the next 4 years.

Hitler's Nazi Party was the top choice of the German people in a legitimate election on January 30, 1933. The Nazi Party won 43% of the vote, largest of any of the parties in the election. The German people had lost faith in the parties of the political center because Germany had suffered great hardships during the 1920s, and was hit even harder by the Great Depression which started in 1929. The German people had lost faith in the democratic process and wanted firm leadership. They knew full well that the Nazis wanted to establish a Dictatorship (so did the communists and socialists). Thus, in the election of January 30, 1933, the German electorate polarized to the extreme right and extreme left (the communist and socialist had a strong showing during this election). Hitler obtained the support of the German Nationalist Party, another right-wing party, which had won about 15% of the vote and was able to form a coalition government. President Hindenburg approved the arrangement and Hitler became Chancellor. Franz von Papen, a former chancellor and a leader of the Nationalist Party, became Vice Chancellor. The cabinet posts were divided with the Nationalists getting more posts than the Nazis.

After he fought for Germany in the first world war, he was very depressed about the surrender and moved to Munchen. Because that was were most radicals lived. He became member of the Nazi party and became the leader of them. In 1923 he tried a coup (German: Putsch), which faled and he was jailed for a short time, while he wrote his book in prison.

After he got free he became popular and got in the German parilament (the Reichstag). It was later that he became the 2nd party there and went into coalition with the party of the chancelor Von Hindenburg because there was a big threat from the communist parties.

When the chancelor died Hitler took his position. After that he used the burning of the parlamentary building to declare martial law, and thus came to power.

The country was in ruins after the first world war, they were in a lot of debt after the reparation payments that were required of them in the Treaty of Versailles and the people were very unhappy with their current government. So when Hitler offered them a solution to their problems the public allowed him to take power, he was an impressive public speaker and convinced them all that he would do good things for the country, when really all he did after taking power was murder millions of innocent people.

Hitler came to power because of three main factors: weakness of the Weimar Republic, the strength of the Nazis, and the economic problems that partly stemmed from World War I.

Hitler was made chancellor by Hindenburg, who believed he could use him as a puppet, but as we can all see this was actually the reverse.

His Nazi party was effective at bullying and removing his opponents, and once in power Hitler did the same for the opposition political parties. When Hindenburg died in 1934, there was nothing to prevent Hitler from seizing absolute power as "Führer und Reichskanzler."
He became the leader of the National German Socialist Workers Party or the Nazi party, the Nazi party then gained the majority in the Reichstag. Hitler asked to become the emergency chancellor because of Germany's financial troubles after WWI. When he was granted this, he changed the government to a dictatorship, and kept power as Fuhrer.
He was democratically elected with 32 percent of the popular vote.
Adolf Hitler got his power because he promised the people of Germany that he would restore their country to its former glory.

He promised them that he would stop paying the treaty of versailles and that he would expand the living space for everyone, (obviously by invading other countries)

He gained the peoples support from his ability to talk in public and the confidence he gave anyone who would be listening. The people of Germany were pleased to hear that someone was there to help them and look after them.

He got his power through the people to start but then began to move on to more serious and direct methods. He started the 'Hitler Youth Movemnet' which encouraged children to support Hitler and become part of the cause. He also became the leader of the Nazi party who stood on their own in politics. The Nazi party eventually became in power. Once they had complete control they changed every rule possible so that no matter what anyone said or did, no one could throw them out of Power

While he was in the election he gave out many promises to Germany, and also provided a scapegoat (someone to blame), which were the Jews, so many people beleived him, and got him elected. Hope it helps!
