Unlike may conquerors before, Alexander the great allowed the local rulers of ares he conquered to continue ruling over their lands and practicing their own religions. This kept his conquered territories pacified and more trusting of his empire.

With considerable respect and care. He had to if he wanted them to follow hime through all those years of danger and privation conquering the Persian Empire.

Troubles started when he bacame arrogant with his leading men, and then tried to push the army too far in his ambition to take all of the east in India, imagining that that was the end of the world, and he would have conquered all of the east, with plans to then turn back and take the west as well.

Whether he was struck down by plague or poisoned we don't know.
