Jackson was the first President who was not related to the founding fathers who

wrote the Declaration of Independence, governed the country during the revolutionary

war, drew up the US Constitution, got it ratified and proceed to rule the new republic.

Jackson was the son of poor Irish immigrants, had no useful family connections and

came from the Western frontier. Therefore, when Jackson took power, it was a new era--

the old aristocracy was out and a new breed of people were running the country.
